When we are still students, I believe that we are more motivated to start a startup with friends, we spend a lot of time together and we know each other well o we enjoy to try a new adventure. Personally, I think it is a great advantage to launch a business with other students. With age, I think we’re looking partners who have experience in the field, not necessarily friends.

Working with friends/family could end up in both a nice or an awful situation. First you have to see if you’re compatible to work with each other and then you have to check if your visions of the company are aligned. If you answered ‘NO’ to both questions, then start recruiting.

I prefer not to work with my friends. They are great people, but I’d rather keep my private life and professional life seperate. I wouldn’t want to have to fire a friend or worse, argue with someone in my family over a business. Family, for me, comes first.
