Boosting startups in Poland

Eliza Kruczkowska is in charge of Startup Poland, an initiative whose goal is to be the voice of entrepreneurs in Poland.

As a first time entrepreneur, Kruczkowska recognizes that she made a number of mistakes in the begining, errors such as counting on people who did not fully share her vision for the project. However, this first mistake made her realize what great opportunities the Internet offers to those starting up businesses and how in Europe it’s still unacceptable to talk about failures like hers.

In contrast, the head of Startup Poland, exemplifies the entrepreneurial culture of Silicon Valley, where it’s normal for entrepreneurs to talk openly about their failures and which are considered to be valuable lessons for future business ventures.

These are just some of the keys Eliza Kruczkowska shares in her interview with FACE Entrepreneurship.

Indeed, I used to live in Cracow and it's a marvelous city full of amazing people! Actually Poland was ranked the fifth country with highest entrepreneurial intentions in the European Union by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor report, with one of every six adults expecting to start a business within the next 3 years!

I once joined http://bitspiration.com startup festival in Cracow and enjoyed it a lot. Vibrant startup scene and great people.

Thank you for the feedback Ana. We plan on visiting Warsaw this spring to see what´s going on there. The bitspiration moved there and google´s entrepreneur office opened, so the startup scene seems to be shifting there.

In Spain we have the exact same problem as in Poland, people are ashamed of admitting that they failed! And failure should be seen as a learning experience which makes you stronger.
