The FACE of experience with Alanko & Carpintier

After the great pitch seen in RestartUp Episode 8, our experts have a thing or two to tell Kate and her friends.

To start with, Rami Alanka, founder and CEO of Beemray admits that he knows all too well that nervous feeling you get when you’re about to pitch your idea in front of a possible investor, “It’s ok to be nervous. It helps you to concentrate.”  However, Alanka emphasizes that you need to be prepared and take care of every detail of your presentation.  So, if you get as far as having a conversation with the investor, that’s a great sign.

Meanwhile, Rodolfo Carpintier from Digital Assets Deployment explains what an investor looks for in a startup.  Are you going to miss it?

Discussion

Our experts clearly explained how important it is to pitch your business idea in the correct way. In order to do this, you have to learn how to speak to an audience; it doesn’t matter if there are 2 or 3 people in the room or 300. Learning public speaking is a must have for every entrepreneur.

On the other hand, we have seen that also being prepared in advance is necessary to succeed in your pitch. You have to do your homework, make sure you know what you are going to say and how. But then, a question or two arises.

Is it more important to be a good public speaker or to be prepared in advance? Is public speaking a natural skill or can you actually learn it?

Some people are naturally good at speaking in public, but it can also be learned through practicing and giving lots of speeches. Being prepared ahead of time is essential to presenting a good pitch, you can't just fly by the seat of your pants

It is very important to knowing how to express oneself correctly, I think that it's important to have the willingness to speak in public, but is necessary sometimes to be trained in techniques that help us to be a good speaker.
